The Monthly Edit: July

Meet the Monthly Edit! Each month, we’ll be sharing a round up of everything from exciting new projects, things we are currently obsessing over, styling tips, behind the scenes and more.

Let’s jump into what we’re loving about J U L Y!

Currently Obsessed With: Black + White

Because, who isn’t? This clean, classic, refined color palette might not be what typically comes to mind for coastal or summer vibes, but at LTW Design, it’s one of our favorite color combinations. We believe bold neutrals create a sense of calm while still being chic and cozy.

Let’s take a look at some pics from past projects where we show our love of this powerful color combo…

Light and airy, B +W works for interiors year-round and is just as good in the summer. So next time you’re thinking beach house or coastal, consider expanding beyond the typical blue and white color scheme and building your design around black + white tones.

Pieces I’m Loving: Summer Style

Shop the Look

1- This chair is like sitting in a cloud! It also is all about contrast, contrast, contrast. I love the juxtaposition of the clean, solid black metal frame and the soft cloud like white cushion. But the main reason I love it is because you can easily move it around to new places in your home for a fresh look. Try it in a bedroom corner with a side table, in an entry next to a favorite piece of art or as a set in a family room.

2- If you know me at all, you know I swoon over texture. The texture and smooth curves of this understated, coffee table are everything. I LOVE how it looks like a sculpture with its thoughtful design . . . anytime furniture can double as a piece of art, I’m in! When styling your space, always look for bold pieces that have clear and strong lines to create a subtle statement without being too in your face.

3- Less is more (always), so I know you’ve heard this a million times but when it comes to our homes we know magazine photos and reality are two VERY different things. At home, I have three young children and now four dogs so any chance I can get to incorporate a closed cabinet, I take it. Closed cabinet doors mean storage for many, many things that I prefer not to see on the floor. It’s perfect for an entry, partly because of the sleek style and partly because you can hide away any last minute clutter before guests come over. Tell me I’m not the only one who does that! And how cute are the leather tab pulls…love this detail.

4- You can never go wrong with a string of over-sized beads to lay in a bowel or over a coffee table book. These African bone beads are one of our go to accessories to add another layer of texture into any room.

What’s In My Closet: Light + Easy Staples

Basically my summer uniform. You can never have too many pairs of white pants. Flowy + comfy pants with a camisole and done. I have about 10min in the morning to get dressed and out the door after getting the 3 kiddos ready, four dogs fed, etc. so I have a very strategic method when it comes to clothing…I stick to three basic colors so everything always goes together. WHITE. BLACK. BROWN. Much like how I approach designing spaces, I like to keep everything cohesive. My clothing style is all about simplicity, neutral tones, and various textures.

Featured Project Of The Month: Bay Project

When we arrived at this gorgeous $6 million home on the water with a pool + private dock in the backyard, my vision for the staging design was instant. The goal was to highlight the waterfront location and incredible views without distraction. Throughout the interiors, we strategically selected low profile furniture, bold neutrals, and clean lines to let the views sing. Dare I say, it was white on white on white on white with a touch of a few solid black accents that also found a place.

The living room called for the black + white chairs I’ve been in love with lately (linked above). Comfortable and sleek with the right amount of simplicity. For styling, we also reached for black + white accessories to give the rooms a dash of contrast and sophistication with black stone bowls, white textured vases and large coffee table books.

Keeping with our signature LTW style, we blended various textures to create a modern and effortlessly natural experience for potential buyers. After all, staging is not just about selling a home it is about selling a lifestyle.

Pro Tip: Let’s Talk Paint

Have you ever decided to paint your space white or black and then looked at the paint deck and felt completely lost?! Like everyone, we have all put a hundred white paint samples on the wall only to find some are too yellow, too gray or even have green undertones. It has been a journey to find a clean, pure white and the right black. We have done the work and found the perfect black + white paint for our aesthetic, are you ready?

On The Road: Martha’s Vineyard

Five days on the Vineyard was the perfect place to relax and unwind with my family + friends over the Fourth of July weekend. We escaped for some sailing, swimming, afternoon naps (imagine that), good food and great conversations with our favorite people. Give me a hammock on sandy beach and I’m happy!

Get inspired with more pics from LTW Design projects and I’ll see you back here soon for the next Monthly Edit!
