It is mid-summer and here on the East Coast our projects are reflecting that casual + breezy coastal vibe the West Coast offers year round. Often, we are asked to incorporate that effortless California vibe into our client’s homes and here are a few tips on how we do it…

Organic Shapes

We love blending natural and organic shapes with the clean lines that are tried and true to the LTW aesthetic. For example, in the above photo the natural cut oak stools (custom by LTW) create a nice juxtaposition of a rigid + earthy feel against the smooth + sleek console table they sit beneath.

Layering Textures

When we think of California cool vibes, we can’t help but think of all the beautiful textures that layer together to create that calm, effortless feeling. Here we combined linen, leather, white oak, cotton, teak and concrete all in the same room to add depth to the space while still keeping it approachable and casual. The epitome of California cool.

Pops Of Color

We said it…a pop of color! Something you don’t often see in our projects are colors like orange or turquoise, however, for this coastal project – color was the perfect addition. Keeping in mind, it is a very minimal amount of color – orange in the coffee table books, turquoise in the photography and greenery in vases – nonetheless, there are pops of color that add to the California vibe.
