Staging is a vital piece of the puzzle when preparing a house for sale, especially in the world of the celebrity housing market. We had the pleasure of staging the beautiful family home of actor Bruce Willis and his model-entrepreneur wife, Emma Heming Willis.
Nestled in the leafy horse country of Bedford, New York, just under an hour from the high rises of Manhattan, this property could not feel more away from it all. Listed for $11.9M.
The secluded 22-acre country estate consists of main house and 3 guest houses consisting of a farmhouse, cottage and studio.
We can’t neglect to mention the property also has incredible outdoor amenities such as a saltwater swimming pool with endless treetop and water views and a vegetable garden for those with a green thumb wanting to capture the farm to table experience at home.
This enchanting property sits at the end of a long driveway tucked behind a private gate, sitting just perfectly like a
castle on the hill.
The Main House
The main house is perched majestically atop an expansive hilltop with unobstructed panoramic views of the Croton Reservoir surrounded by trees. It’s a view which fills all the windows to the rear of the home. A view which is both mesmerizing and calming as the scenery changes before your eyes with the seasons.
The shingle-clad Craftsman-inspired main house set across three floors, pulls you into an entry which is as grand as the land upon which it sits.
We wanted to showcase this striking entry with its rich dark wooden flooring and magnificent ceiling beams.
We strategically placed 4′ tall vertical mirrors and oversized artwork in the entry to draw the buyer’s eye upwards, showcasing the ceiling height & architectural beams.
The entry to a house, as we’ve said previously, is the ‘smile’ of a home, welcoming you in. It is the first room buyer’s step into and sets the tone for rest of the house. We always make sure to design staging that sets high expectations and creates a lasting impression from the moment you open the front door.
Enticing you in from the entry is a grand opening to the Great Room and what a ‘great’ room it is with an expansive floor plan perfect for entertaining, family nights curled up reading a book, watching movies, or playing games on the coffee table.
We are always excited to watch our design boards created in the Office come alive on installation day.
Don’t even get us started on the views from this room…
Also off of the entry lies an opening into the elegant Dining Room. It is a Dining Room fit for a banquet with its own fire place bringing warmth and coziness on those cold winter nights.
We gave a special nod to the property’s location set within picturesque riding country through this oversized artwork.
When building out the staging design for this room, we were imagining intimate family dinners after a day out riding in the country and a roaring fire crackling away in the background.
From the dining room you can enter the kitchen with its floor to ceiling windows showcasing the view and its very own fireplace as well.
A kitchen with a view
The first floor also benefits from a playroom, mud room and an impressive study/office complete with a built-in entertainment system accessible down the long corridor leading from Entry.
The upstairs is sleeping terrain, with the majority of the bedrooms situated across this expansive second floor including the master bedroom with its marble finished en-suite. All the bedrooms are spacious and those to rear of the property offer the views of the sweeping water and valley below.
A master bedroom with vaulted ceilings, fireplace and balcony with front row sunset views.
Kids rooms are always fun as it’s the perfect area to create an emotional connection with buyers with adorable accessories.
One of our favorite rooms in the main house is the Tower Room, which leads off of the Master Bedroom up a winding staircase.
We transformed this room into a chic observatory since it offers wall to wall views of the open sky & valley below.
The Tower Room is the perfect place to cozy up with a good book under the stars.
The expansive lower level of the house has a guest room and several fitness rooms, as well as a temperature-controlled wine cellar with a capacity for up to 1500 bottles.
With a main house and three guest houses it was key for us to strategically stage every house individually, highlighting what each has to offer.
We felt completely swept up and charmed by the farmhouse (the largest of the guest houses) which immediately makes you feel at home with its exposed beams, open floor plan and tons of natural light.
Any guest would feel right at home here. You might struggle to get them to leave!
