We recently spent a few days in Austin putting on the finishing touches for a shoot of this beautifully built new home. Sitting on nearly a half-acre in the hills above Lady Bird Lake, this modern abode embodies refined minimalism with a true connection to the surrounding nature. The location offers a rare blend of tranquility and convenience sitting just minutes away from downtown Austin. Designed and built in a boomerang shape around two incredible oak trees that sit out front, this home is for those who appreciate clean lines, casually sophistication and a connection to nature.

Upon entering, you are met with the warmth of white oak flooring and cabinetry that seamlessly continue to flow throughout the home. The choice of materials not only create a sense of depth, they also enhance the overall sense of continuity and refinement.

Throughout the home are floor to ceiling glass walls showcasing a thoughtful blend of design elements that seamlessly weave into the natural surroundings. This project was a truly intentional and thoughtful collaboration with the talented Rose Spice, Breck Studio Architecture and Melde Construction. The careful selection of materials and textures contribute to the creation of a living space that is both visually appealing and in harmony with its environment.

Incorporating a palette of three neutral colors – black, white, and oak – enables the outdoor landscape to naturally serve as a tranquil backdrop. This thoughtful approach ensures that the various green trees and the expansive blue skies emerge as the genuine artwork in each room.

When it came time to shoot with photographer, Reid Rolls, we really wanted to capture all of the incredible architectural elements and highlight the design details that make this home feel so calm and connected to nature.

Thanks to the incorporation of natural stone and layered textures, the primary bathroom emanates a spa-like ambiance and stands as the ideal haven to wind down and find a moment of calm at the end of the day.
