The entryway of a home is what we like to call the ‘smile’ of the home. When you look at someone’s face, if they are smiling, it makes you feel at ease and welcomed. The entryway is like a smile on one’s face because when staged properly, it creates a warm welcoming feeling for buyers as they walk in. Since it is the first room they step in, it sets the tone on what to expect in the rest of the home.
If the entryway is overlooked, it can have a negative effect on the buyers first impression of a home. However, if it’s done right, it sets the stage and creates an excitement for what is to be seen in the rest of the home. We want buyers to be happy and feel excited as they walk through every room. This creates that emotional connection needed to say, “This is it, let’s put an offer in.”
